Microgreen Basil – How to Grow and Enjoy It

Growing microgreen basil requires some patience. Microgreens can be found in the nursery as small plants and you must make sure they get the right growing conditions before planting. You can either plant them indoors in a pot or try to grow them out in a container or window. The only condition required is maximum humidity.

If you do not have a trellis or greenhouse, growing microgreen basil with the help of trellis lines will also prove difficult. The best way to plant it is upside down. The basil will need to get some exposure to the sun on its way up. It should receive at least six hours of sunlight and be kept in a moist but not soggy area. When you first plant it, the little roots will need support and when watering, use a good quality potting soil mix.

There are several ways of using micro green basil for cooking and recipes. Most herbs like basil and oregano to taste good mixed with olive oil or butter. For added flavoring, try using red or yellow chillies or olives. Some people like to add chopped garlic or onions to their salads.

This type of herb can be used fresh or preserved in syrup or liquid for up to one month. Before using it, remove any seeds from the center and pierce the leaves through the middle with a knife. Add about one teaspoon of dry ingredients to each four ounces of liquid. Bring to boil then simmer for about two minutes until the herbs are softened. Using a blender, puree the blended ingredients to your desired consistency.

The tasty leaves and bitter flavor can be combined to make a delicious summertime summer salad or summer dessert. Slice the micro, green basil leaves into thin strips and place them on top of raw or ripe tomatoes or cucumbers to sweeten. To serve, garnish with shredded sharp cheddar cheese and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with some flat salt if you wish.

Blueberry and mint smoothies are popular treats during the winter season. You’ll have to have some on hand to use in salads and as a tasty refreshing tea. Mix the blueberries and mint with a bit of filtered water or fresh lemon juice and heat through a flame. strain into prepared cups and add the sugar or honey.

Microgreen basil is also an excellent choice for making fruit smoothies for children. It adds tartness without adding excess sugar. Blend one tablespoon of chopped basil, one tablespoon of sugar, one tablespoon of lemon juice, and two or three lemons for a delicious and light snack. Store it in the refrigerator until ready to eat. You can also blend the basil with lemon or lime juice in the blender, add a bit of honey or syrup for sweetness, and drink as a cold beverage.

Microgreen berry smoothies are a wonderful way to get more from your favorite fruits. You can also get more vitamin C by using the whole plant (including the flowers) in the blender or any fruit-flavored beverage. Whichever way you use it, enjoy the healthy benefits of basil. Also, be sure and eat lots of green leafy vegetables as part of your regular diet. You should also make it a point to eat plenty of raw fruits and veggies as well as raw nuts and seeds throughout the week.

There are several other uses for microgreens besides making great smoothies. You can slice them and serve them sliced with pasta or on their own. You can sprinkle some over the top of cereal for a healthy breakfast option or put some between your slices of dark chocolate cake for a fun treat. You can even use them to spice up your favorite muffins!

As you can see, there are numerous ways you can use the tiny leaves to provide you with more vitamins and nutrients. In addition to providing color and flavor to your meals, microgreens are full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They are even good for digestion! That’s because basil has a digestive system strengthening ability.

If you are trying to avoid iron-deficiency anemia, try growing micro green basil. It will provide your body with the much needed vitamins, especially if you combine it with an antioxidant-rich diet. This combination is said to increase your blood flow and help rid your body of free radicals. Free radicals cause cell damage in your cells and cause everything from wrinkles to cancer to appear. By eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, you can keep your cells healthy, fight off disease, and feel great.
