Some of them, however, do better in partial sunlight and they do best in the potting medium. If you have these types of herbs then by all means plant them in the garden but remember that you can get more than what you bargained for if you grow them in the garden as well.

The second category that you should know about if you want herbs that need low light is those that are floating herbs. These include dill, fennel, and Rosemary. These herbs can be planted in the garden with good results but you will have to ensure that they get enough sunlight and even if they do enjoy some shade during the summer season they can survive. You should make sure that you choose pots that are large enough for these floating herbs as they will tend to crowd out other smaller herbs.

You should keep in mind that growing herbs that need low light is not an easy job. These herbs need lots of sun and if you happen to be in an area where the sun does not reach that level on a regular basis you may have to move them elsewhere. If you want to grow herbs that need low light there are many people who grow their own herbs in containers. You should use a method of planting your herbs that is similar to planting them in the garden. You should place the container in the sun but try to keep it slightly darker than it would be in the garden.

You should take careful measurements when you are planning your herb garden. If you want your herbs to look as good as possible then you will want to choose pots that are not too big. If the pots you buy are larger than your garden, you may find that your herbs do not like staying in the pots. You should also pay close attention to the drainage holes in your pots as you will find that most herbs will rot if the drainage holes are not properly constructed.

Most herbs will start growing right away and some can even be started growing within the first week of being sowed. The amount of sunlight needed to grow your herbs will vary depending on what kind of herb you are growing.
